Dental Lab
Our acquisition of the i-CAT Cone Beam 3-D Dental CT SCANNER means that we don’t need to send our patients to a Computer Tomography Scanning Centre. We can offer everything that our patients require in our own clinic, thus making us one of the most technologically advanced dental clinics in Europe. This equipment produces 350 megabytes of 3D images for the precise placement of implants using SimPlant Guided Surgery technology, to an accuracy of 0.5mm. The time saving for us allows us to offer such competitive prices and the patient saves time due to fewer visits.
The investment in the latest technology allows the patient to leave the chair with dental implants and permanent or temporary crowns and bridges the same day. Replacing teeth with dental implants has traditionally been associated with long periods of recuperation and high costs, but with our state-of-the-art equipment and the fact that we have our own dental lab, means that the time and the cost can be dramatically reduced.
Our experienced implant team has undertaken hundreds of implants successfully without the advantage of our own CT Scanner, but now even the most challenging of cases can be successfully accomplished without risk.
Taking a CT scan can also reduce the need of expensive bone grafting in many cases, because without a CT Scan the exact bone thickness and depth cannot be measured accurately and bone grafting may be done unnecessarily when it is not really required.
CAT Scans should not be confused with an MRI Scan which is used for the diagnosis of other problems, not associated with Dental or Oral issues.
Our in-office laboratory expedites the process of creating appliances and allows us to serve you in a more efficient manner.
Our lab produces aesthetic appliances for a variety of dental procedures. These appliances include dentures, crowns, bridges and other prosthetics. After Dr. Karagodsky provides an impression or mold of the patient's teeth, one of our laboratory technicians creates a model of the patient's mouth using plaster molds. The technician then places the model in a device that replicates the bite and movement of the patient's jaw. This model serves as the basis for producing the required appliance(s).
Dr. Karagodsky and one of our technicians then examine the model and make necessary adjustments and recommendations for each patient’s appliance. The technician uses the information from this consultation to shape, mold and cast the final appliance. The final cast duplicates the exact shape, size and color of the original tooth or teeth.
i-CAT® Imaging
While CT (computed tomography) imaging has been used in the medical field for over 30 years, it is becoming the new diagnostic tool of choice for orthodontic analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning due to the latest advancements in diagnostic technology such as the revolutionary i-CAT® Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System. This three-dimensional CT technology can provide a quicker full scan of the head than traditional two-dimensional imaging, allowing orthodontists a better visualization of the hard and soft tissues of the craniofacial structures from several perspectives. In addition to the advantages of traditional CT scans, the i-CAT® Cone Beam releases up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-ray machines, enhancing your safety while providing crisp, clear images for more efficient diagnostic analysis and treatment. We feel our modern, cutting-edge techniques ensure you are receiving the quality care you deserve.
The i-CAT® Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System can immediately produce three-dimensional images in under one minute. This in-office, easy-to-use system provides your orthodontist a comprehensive view of all oral and maxillofacial structures, dramatically increasing the efficiency with which your orthodontist is able diagnose your condition and plan for your treatment.
i-CAT® technology is used for:
- TMJ assessment
- Surgical planning
- Assessment of cleft lip and palates
- Assessment of the alveolar bone
- Impacted tooth position
- Facial analysis
- Tongue size and posture
- Airway assessment
- Placement of dental implants
